ABOUT

I often tend to prioritise powerful moments and experiences over secure stability. I believe it is with these experiences that we create our brightest sensual memories which last a lifetime.

Within the “ TRANSEO ” series, bright and vibrant patches of colour collide together in a single moment. These splashes of colour are bold, loud and bare, just like the memories of powerful emotions. Whilst each of these moments may appear simple from a distance, they are built up, thread-by-thread, from all the smaller details that are often transformed or forgotten overtime. When sewn together, these details reveal the bold overlapping colours of our strongest emotional memories.

Thread has been used by numerous religions throughout history in ceremonies and rituals. Even within different cultures one may find a common symbolism of thread  - mostly offering protection and good luck, serving as a reminder of lessons learnt and a connection amongst humans. With each stitched colour patch Ermol embeds a feeling, an emotion, like small pieces of a puzzle. She works with yarn on fabric as she does with paint: letting the subconscious emotional experiences dictate the direction, she imagines organic forms composed of bold colours which create wholesome shapes.

OLGA ERMOL is a multidisciplinary visual artist, originally from Ukraine. She began painting at the age of 9 which triggered her creative career choice. In the course of her artistic journey, she has worked with a variety of mediums such as oil paint, digital art and sculpture, steadily exploring a three-dimensional form of art. After living across the UK and Milan, In 2020 the global pandemic sparked her experimentation with yarn, which she intends to keep investigating. Currently Olga lives and creates in the hills of Tuscany.
